Hi!  My name is Courtney Sherman and I want you to know that you are loved and welcome here!  Through my own journey I have encountered the healing love of God and have grown through an integrated approach that addresses the psychological, physical, intellectual and spiritual life.  I am honored to journey with my clients who invite me into their hearts and courageously share their lives.  I believe that there is always hope amidst the storms of life and hold true to God’s Word that “darkness is not dark for you and light shines as the day” (Psalm 139:12).  Each of us is called and chosen by God for a purpose and with grace and openness we can learn that even our struggles and wounds have meaning. I have personally experienced the power of finding hope in very dark and tragic times, and I am grateful for the loving counselors and spiritual directors that have guided and walked with me through every difficult path.  At the very core of healing is coming to know our deepest identity as beloved sons and daughters of a Heavenly Father who sustains us in love.  My desire is to always remember that the Holy Spirit is the Divine Counselor and I am blessed to be His vessel.

I am specifically passionate about helping young people (teenagers and young adults) journey through life transitions. I have spent over 10 years in High School and College ministry working full time with young people. I am also passionate about helping families come together through the challenges of life and learn to grow through the power of love and mercy.  I believe that the family is the basic cell of our society and in the words of St. John Paul II: “As the family goes, so goes the nation, and so goes the whole world in which we live.”  I draw upon multiple resources and evidence based techniques, including some cognitive-behavioral therapy, psychodynamic, and the Gottman Method regarding relationships. I also have experience working in an inpatient addiction center, where I assisted both those with addictions and their families as they began the process to healing and recovery.  Therapy is a journey and a collaborative effort between the client, the counselor, and God. I look forward to having the opportunity to talk with you.
