Kristen Moyer, Licensed School Counselor, Resident Counselor

For as long as I can remember I have had a deep desire to help people. That desire is what fueled my passion for the field of counseling.

We live in a world full of pain and confusion, strained relationships and brokenness.  Often the help of a counselor can provide understanding and perspective that can empower change.  I believe we were created for connection with both God and people, and change is always possible.  I also believe that God did not intend for us to go through hardships alone (Genesis 2:18 and Philippians 4:14).  He created us with the amazing capacity to care for each other, and he also designed us amazingly to experience change within our brains.  It's possible by the literal renewing of our minds.  My desire is to help restore connectedness to both God and others, and experience a glimpse of hope and healing, and re-discover joy.

Additionally, It is my honor to come alongside families and help them navigate life’s complexities. I practice counseling that is firmly rooted in Biblical foundations of grace and relationships and not fault finding.  My counseling is informed and inspired by my own lived family experience and seeing how the Intimacy Therapy model I use has transformed my own family and inspired me to help other families.  I would love to walk this journey with you, and help you to restore the connectedness to each other and to God and to heal some of the pain that you may be experiencing in your home.

Working with children is especially meaningful to me. I have personally seen how hard it is to be a kid right now. As a former school counselor, I have been a first hand observer to the mental health crisis among our youth. I want to help today’s youth grasp how God made each of them uniquely and wonderfully.  I find joy in helping children feel heard and accepted and parents feel a sense of hope, joy, connection, and competency in parenting. I’m here to help and give you and your child hope for future change.

About Me:

After several years as a Middle School Counselor, in both public and private schools, I made the transition to a community based therapist.  This has allowed me to further the scope of therapy I am able to provide to students in need by also addressing the needs of the family. My husband and I have been married for 20 years and we have three children.  When I’m not with clients you can find me reading a book, baking, playing games with my family, painting with watercolor, or going on a walk.
