Hello, my name is Patricia and I would be humbled to have the opportunity to meet you. I am a licensed mental health counselor in the state of Indiana and a certified art therapist. I believe that therapy should be safe and genuine. My philosophy is deeply rooted in trauma informed practices, empathetic listening, and supporting individuals in making progress towards their goals. I hope that my kindness and transparency may provide you with the comfort and freedom to express your inner thoughts, feelings, and experiences.
Often, it is challenging and difficult to freely express ourselves. Words may not be adequate. Art therapy is an empirically based and trauma informed practice that offers an additional method of treatment. With my support, we can work to foster and nurture your inner creativity through using art materials. Creative expression brings self-understanding, personal power, spiritual growth, and healing. There are many ways to incorporate creative expression in therapy. I encourage alternative methods of creativity like music, poetry, movement, journaling, or meditation. Together, we can create healing that engages your mind, body, emotions, and spirit.
I graduated with my MA in Mental Health Counseling with a concentration in art therapy from the University of Indianapolis, College of Applied Behavioral Sciences. Currently, I teach as an adjunct professor for the University of Indianapolis.
I have worked in diverse settings within outpatient community mental health centers and inpatient psychiatric facilities. My previous clinical experiences include working with children and adults from a variety of backgrounds with medical and mental health concerns by offering both mental health counseling and art therapy. I have counseled and assessed the spectrum of patients with severe mental health concerns like those with symptoms of psychosis, trauma diagnoses, depression, anxiety, developmental disabilities, and various neurological disorders. I am well versed in advocating for marginalized individuals in acquiring needs and resources in the community to support their goals and obtain stability.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about me. It would be a privilege to have the opportunity to support your journey and begin your healing process.
